WSR-88D Hotline System Status Monitor (SSM) Help

The following information should help when using the SSM system.

  1. A Red status means that a general status message (GSM) was received indicates that radar products are not available from the RPG.
  2. A Yellow status means a GSM was received indicates radar system alarms yet radar products are still available from the RPG.
  3. A Green status means a GSM was received indicates no radar system alarms with radar products available from the RPG.
  4. The SSM no longer dials each WSR-88D once an hour. Instead, SSM receives GSMs via the AWIPS network. As the status of each radar changes, a GSM is generated and sent to AWIPS. This GSM is then received by the SSM. For radars with no AWIPS connections, dial requests for GSMs are still used.
  5. The time displayed is in Universal Coordinated Time (a.k.a., Z or UTC).
